Directions
1. Pre-heat oven to 350 levels F. Grease and flour three 9-inch round cake pans.
2. Utilizing an electric mixer, cream together the shortening and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs individually, beating well after each addition. Stir together flour, baking powder, and salt in another bowl. Add flour mixture alternately using the milk towards the creamed mixture, beginning and ending with flour. Add vanilla and blend well.
3. Divide batter into thirds. Pour 1 / 3 into each one of the two prepared pans. Towards the remaining 1 / 3 of batter, add some spice layer elements, folding in well. 2 egg-whites
1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla flavoring
Place sugar, cream of tartar or corn syrup, salt, water, and egg-whites in the top of the a dual boiler. Beat having a handheld electric mixer for one minute. Place pan over boiling water, ensuring boiling water doesn't touch the foot of the very best pan. (Should this happen, it might cause your frosting to get grainy.) Beat constantly on high-speed with electric mixer for 7 minutes. Beat in vanilla.
